How I Help My Clients
I am a strong, motivated Coach. My clients have reached
the bottom of a pit, the end of a rope. They are ready to
change their lives once and for all. I’ll help you to
find out what you are tolerating, who and what is stealing
your energy and time and how to eliminate that. You’ll
have a confidential forum to be honest with what your life
looks like today, to investigate your dreams and future and
to find a path to achieve what you desire. We’ll have
fieldwork between our sessions – you’ll always
be moving forward. There are no steps backward with me as
your coach. None of us have time to spend in negativity.
- “Is this the time to retire?
- How do you actually do this?
- What do you do next?
- How will you spend your time?
- What are some of your passions and how do you put them
I your life?
- How do you take care of your own family, your parents
and yourself, all at the same time?
For the past decade, I have been intensely researching all
of our “Baby Boomer” questions and concerns, looking
for options and answers. I’m at the forefront of the
Baby Boomer generation, the Class of ’65, the Class
of ’69. I was an architectural space planner for 31
yrs., ready to do something different, but not ready to retire.
I searched for something I could be passionate about, finally
returning to school to complete a two year Master’s
Degree and have been a successful Personal Life Coach for
over six years.
For the past ten years, my husband and I have been dealing
with caregiving for all four of our parents, both in the same
town and long distance. During this experience, I have developed
a program of communication and direction to guide and assist
siblings and family members in the difficult communication
and decisions around caregiving. I have successfully blended
a family with five grown sons, living in three states; some
married; four grandchildren, with another on the way.
My husband and I decided to move from where generations of
my family had grown up and have designed and worked at recreating
a new life in another part of the country. I’ve designed
living spaces for the handicap and studied the pros and cons
of living at home or moving to assisted living. Do you relate
to any of the above? Contact me! Your Baby Boomer life can
be the best – we are the “Leaders of the Pack”!!
Testimonials
Have you ever found yourself where no matter which way you
turn, you are stuck in the mime’s proverbial box? Then
even worse, you feel like that box is closing in with each
day. Well, let me tell you that is the way I felt when I just
happened to be at the right place at the right time. You see,
my chance meeting with Carolyn was an answer to many long
hours of prayer. However, it took me even longer to finally
be fed up enough with my current situation to make that phone
call and commit to wanting a better life. It has been one
of the best decisions I have ever made. Coaching by Carolyn
has made me realize that first of all, my thinking was not
“weird”, as I was told so often. She has made
me also realize that the world is my court and I can decide
whether I want to pick up the ball and play someone else’s
game or to stay focused on what I want the end result to be
in my own game. Much different from before where I let someone
else decide the outcome of the game. I feel better about myself
than I have in a very long time. I have a wonderful job that
I look forward to going to each morning. I have learned to
set my goals high and never again settle for less. Thanks
to Carolyn’s coaching for getting me back on track and
a believer in e – it has and will be a wonderful ride.
Thanks Carolyn!

Carolyn is an excellent coach and I feel lucky to have her
on my side. I could tell from the very beginning that she
genuinely enjoys helping me and really wants to see me succeed.
She believes in my capabilities – sometimes more than
I believe in myself. Carolyn is a warm and caring person who
has been nothing buy positive and supportive to me from day
one. I came to Carolyn to work on all aspects of my life,
mainly career and relationships. Although we often spend time
working on one specific thing, like career issues, she never
lets me get stuck in just one area. Carolyn is always checking
to make sure that I am not neglecting other aspects of my
life like having fun, getting out more and exercising. Many
times she has done things that go way beyond her duties as
a coach. She is extremely generous with her time and always
makes herself available to me in-between coaching times. I
know that I can always talk to Carolyn about things that I
wouldn’t feel comfortable talking to anyone else about
because she is so open-minded and non-judgmental. Along with
that, she has also taught me some concrete skills and had
me do specific tasks to empower me in my life. Carolyn has
helped me to start gaining control over my negative thinking
habits. She has helped me to see that I’ve been allowing
that to control my life and if I don’t change those
thinking habits, nothing else I do will matter. I now regularly
work on that, using methods that she showed me. Oftentimes,
when that negative voice pops into my head telling me that
I wasn’t able to accomplish something in the past so
I have no business trying it now, I’ve reminded myself
that t the difference now I that I have Carolyn on my side.
I feel very fortunate to have found Carolyn and to have her
as my Life Coach.

As a coach to schools and district offices, I am familiar
with coaching techniques. I now the difficulty of bringing
individuals and groups to and through the change process,
a process that is, most times, needed, painful, risky, challenging
and full of hard word and unrelenting commitment. Often the
pace of change is glacially slow for my clients, who continue
to act with a belief in the results of change process to create
and sustain their direction and momentum. In the spring of
this year, I did something for myself: I asked Carolyn Bates
to assist me with some changes that I needed to make in my
life. I needed someone to serve as an external motivator,
someone to bounce ideas off, someone to help me objectify
areas I could not, someone to assist ME in creating and sustaining
momentum and direction. First, Carolyn Bates has given me
professional insights. I have shamelessly borrowed and adapted
techniques from her to help my clients. Also, I have become
more organized; in other words, I have begun to do what I
assist my clients in doing. No ore just doing the work in
my head: I write “stuff” down, prioritize it and
implement it. I find I’m more patient with the professional
me as well as with my clients. I realize that when I have
made the personal changes that I need to, more of what she
is facilitating for me will spill over into my professional
life. Second, she has helped me personally. I told her several
months ago, after hearing her words at the end of a phone
session, that I now had an idea of what God must see and say
when Lynn is on His mid. Her compassion seems to know no end.
Not too long ago, I flippantly asked her if she was my new
best friend. I realized that in many ways Carolyn was now
a good friend. Carolyn is knowledgeable and resourceful. She
can get to the root of situations, often directing my attention
to probable causes. She keeps me grounded and our work targe4ted.
I am definitely a part of my own healing as Carolyn keeps
the focus on me and what I believe I must do to change. As
I tell her, I’m running out of time and I must do this
work now. I feel compelled to move on and I’m so happy
to have Carolyn assisting me on the journey.
IN PROGRESS.
