Life or Death? YOU Need a Dog

As we age, we tend to want to keep Life simple and routine. Maybe we want to scale down, to not spend too much so we can actively save for retirement. Are you thinking you want to spend your time in an uncomplicated way, not having to think about too many different things As a dog owner/lover myself, I ask, why would a dog make a difference between living a real life and death?

It’s all about feeling loved – endorphins. It’s all about feeling like you matter in the world. It’s all about having at least some responsibility to keep you going. It’s all about giving and thinking about someone or something else besides yourself.

1.) A dog is ALWAYS happy to see you – whether it’s 2:00 A.M. and you can’t sleep or you’ve been gone for days. They don’t just walk over to see you, they Run!

2) .A dog senses when you are sad, unhappy or not feeling well. They will be quiet, not demand anything and snuggle at your feet, just to say “I love you and I’m thinking

3.) A dog doesn’t cost very much if you look at all of the love and attention they give. There’s even pet insurance now to cover most of the expenses. A friend of mine says she divides what

4.) A dog knows who their owner is; they may lick someone else or let another person pet them, but they always know who they really need and who really loves them. They always return to their master.

5.) A dog is trained to have a regular routine – when they are fed, when they have to go out, when they sleep. Great for you, because you have to get dressed, get up, get out……a perfect way for you to stay on a routine and not get stuck in your chair. Best of all, it keeps you from thinking about yourself too much – you have to think about something else, if only for a minute

6.) A dog needs to be walked and played with. This is great because it keeps you exercising and active – you have to walk the dog? No, the dog has to walk YOU!

7.) A dog is a great magnet for meeting other people. Children, other people walking, they all will look at you with your dog and some will even walk over for a pet.

Having responsibility for others. Being around others. Having a reason to get up. Being loved unconditionally Choosing Life or Death? about you. Warmly, Carolyn
